Art by artists from the architectural professions of Scotland

Will Purdie

William Purdie is an Architect and Urban Designer originally from Perth, Scotland. He studied Foundation Art at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen before studying architecture at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture, completing his Part 1, followed by Part 2 at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.

His architectural career has taken him across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth, New York City and Cardiff, Wales. He currently works in regeneration and urban design, developing projects across the UK in a range of settings, from the South Wales Valleys and Pembrokeshire Coast to city and town centres.

Alongside his architectural practice, William is developing his interest in painting and drawing, exploring composition, colour, geometry and abstraction through studies of artists and artworks that have influenced his practice. His background in architecture and urban design informs an interest in the use of hand drawing sketching to process and present the relationship between places, public space and the built environment.
